What Meram sends, and to whom.
Meram turns speech into text in the cloud, so your voice does leave your computer. Here is exactly what is sent, who handles it, and how long anything is kept.
Who is responsible
Meram is developed and operated by Kuntay Erkuş, an individual developer. For anything about your data, email kuntayerkus@gmail.com.
Where Meram is offered
Meram Cloud is not offered in Turkey, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Russia, Belarus or China. Sign-in and dictation are refused from those places, based on the location of your internet connection. Meram is only for people aged 18 or over.
What leaves your computer
Nothing is sent until you have agreed to this in the app.
- Microphone audio — on every dictation, to Meram Cloud and then to Groq (USA), to turn speech into text.
- A vocabulary hint (up to 300 characters of terms from your dictionary and words from your own past dictations) — with each dictation, to Groq, so names and specialist terms are spelled correctly.
- Dictated text — only when you use translation, pick a tone, or turn on “Polish with AI” (off by default), to Anthropic (USA), which runs the Claude model.
- Screen context — only if you turn on “Screen context” (off by default).
- Account details (email, name, how you signed in) — held by Clerk (USA).
- Payment details — when you buy Pro, handled by Lemon Squeezy (USA), the seller and merchant of record. We never see your card.
- Reports — only when you press “Report” on an AI result; the text is included only if you tick “Include this text”.
- Crash reports (error type, never dictated text) — only if you turn them on, to Sentry.
How it is handled
Meram Cloud runs on Cloudflare. It keeps your audio and dictated text in memory only while processing them and writes none of it to disk. We do not sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use your dictations to train any model. Groq and Anthropic handle the content they receive under their own terms; the full policy in the app states what each of them keeps.
What Meram Cloud keeps
- Your account id — until you delete your account.
- Monthly usage counters (seconds and number of AI calls, no content) — 13 months.
- Subscription status and what legal text you accepted, and when — until you delete your account.
- Short-lived sign-in records (stored as hashes) — from 1 day to 30 days.
- AI-output reports — 1 year.
- Payment webhook records, to avoid processing one twice — 90 days.
What stays on your computer
Your dictation history, dictionary, vocabulary, app rules and settings live in a local database on your computer, and none of it is sent to Meram Cloud. The history is stored unencrypted. Recordings are kept only if you turn on “Keep audio” (off by default).
Meram checks the focused field before typing. If it detects a password field, it types nothing and copies nothing to the clipboard.
Your choices and rights
- Stop using Meram Cloud: in the app, Account → “Stop using Meram Cloud” signs you out and withdraws your agreement.
- Delete your account: Account → “Delete my account” removes your account and everything Meram Cloud keeps about you. Cancel an active Pro subscription first.
- Local data: delete it from the History screen, or by uninstalling Meram.
- Access or correction: email kuntayerkus@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days.
Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have further rights over your personal information. Use the same email to exercise them; we will not treat you differently for doing so.
Where your data is processed
Our service providers process data in the United States and other countries where they operate, and we rely on their contractual commitments to protect it.
This website
This marketing site can use Microsoft Clarity (page-use and anonymised session recordings) and PostHog (EU region, button clicks and page views). Neither is loaded, and no analytics cookies or storage are set, unless you press “Accept” on the banner. If you decline, nothing is sent. Change your mind any time with “Privacy choices” in the footer; your choice is remembered only in your own browser.
If you join the Pro waitlist, your email address is used only to tell you when Pro launches. None of this involves your dictations, which the website never receives.
Changes
When this policy changes in a way that matters, Meram asks you to agree again before your next dictation is sent. The date is at the top of this page. The full policy shown inside the app is the one that applies to the app.
